GUILD OF ONE NAME STUDIES

I am pleased to report to you that I have submitted our application to the Guild of One Name Studies in Essex, England.

"The Guild was formed to encourage the exchange of ideas and cooperative liason between the growing number of family historians who concentrate their research on ALL references to a single surname.

"The aims and objectives of the Guild are:

(a) To bring together those individuals and groups of people who are engaged in the collection of family data relative to all references, branches and occurrences of a single surname.

(b) To produce a journal or newsletter and hold periodic meetings and to exchange information on sources and research techniques helpful to one

(c) To maintain and publish a register of the surnames being researched and, through close association with the Federation of Family History Societies, to secure the widest possible awareness of one

(d) To encourage and ensure by a written undertaking, that members will deal with all reply paid enquiries relative to their registered surnames.

I expect that our membership in the Guild will direct us toward many more roads that we can follow in our search for our Skinner ancestors. With luck, our English Skinner cousins will have information that they will be able to share with us along those roads.
