My grandfather, Wilson Ernest Skinner, built the harbor of Manila, Philippines and when he was on deck going through the Panama Canal some of the workers spotted him and called "Mr. Skinner - Mr. Skinner," they had worked under him at Manila. But the funny thing was that there was another Mr. Skinner on deck, too. He introduced himself as the Skinner of "Skinner's Satin." I don't know whether it's still manufactured now but it was one of the best trade names. I wish they had done some family tracing but if they did I don't suppose either knew enough about any possible common ancestor.
