This article was contributed by Clyde M. Senger, WA; and appeared in `Timber Trails' Vol 5 # 3 Jan 1985, Yamhill Co. Gen. Soc., OR The Yamhill Co. (OR) Museum has several old scrapbooks, one of which belonged to the Skinner - Davis family of McMinnville, OR. It appears to have been kept by Mrs. O.B. Skinner and in later years by her daughter, Clara Skinner Davis. The Skinners left their home in MI and came to OR in 1877. On the way they stopped to visit relatives in Syracuse, IN and Oquawka, IL several of whose obituaries appear in the book. In amongst the poetry clippings are pasted newspaper accounts of marriages, school news with lists of students, obituaries, and historical items. Inserted between the pages are many loose clippings. The index below contains only the names of the people for whom the obituaries were written. Included is the name of the town and state in which the person died if it was outside OR, and the page number on which the obituary appears. A (1) after a name indicates that it is from a loose clipping In the scrapbook. They are hoping that someday the whole scrapbook will be indexed. Adams, Lille 23 continued in the Fall edition |
