Murray Brown of MA has recently forwarded to me a copy of a letter he received from Debrett Ancestry Research of Winchester, England. He asks that I present it to you, the supporters of the Skinner Family Association... Debrett is a professional genealogical research organization and is willing to take on our search for the elusive immigrant ancestor, Thomas Skinner of Malden, MA. However, according to the letter, their "usual practice is to ask for a fee in advance to allow us to set in motion the research on your behalf. In order to maintain our high standards, we have set a budget of $490..." Yep, that's what I said, too. However, Mr. Brown did feel that possibly in the long run they could save us money. I don't have the $490 to institute the search. Funds from the Update can, in no way, support this amount of money. The only way that would be feasible would be to create a special fund. How do you, the readers, feel about funding this research? |
