1880 U. S. Census, Rome Twp, Lenawee, Michigan, listed Carey, 27 living
with James and Ellen Brooks.
He died of heart disease. Elon Barrows told Joan Reedy (29 Mar 1979)
that the Barrows were French Canadian and Hila Brooks was English
German. The family came across the country in an ox cart from
Syracuse, New York area.
Headstone indicates that Carey was a Mason.
