Clark, History of Norton, MA: 1745-55. Timothy Skinner had a
licence to sell liquor (p. 515).
From Bristol County, Mass., land records: 1750, May 9. Timothy
Skinner of Norton to Samuel Bayley of Norton, a certain piece or parcel
of land in said Norton on that tract of land called Taunton North Purchase
being by estimation 7 acres and 26 rods and one seventh part of a rod be
it more or less, on ye east side of Wading River on a Plane bounded as
followeth. From a little tree it ranges South 40 rods to a stake with
stones about it from thence it ranges East 17 rods and 1/4 of a rod to a
stake with stones about it from thence it ranges North 40 rods to a stake
with stones about it from thence it ranges East 14 rods and three
quarters of one rod to a corner from thence it ranges North 14 rods and 6
feet to a corner from thence it ranges West 32 rods to a corner from
thence it ranges South 14 rods and 6 feet to ye little Tree first
mentioned 4 acres and 50 rods of ye above bounded land I bought of
Andrew Grover of said Norton and 2 Acres and three quarters and 17 rods
and one seventh part of one rod was given to me by my Honoured
Grandfather John Skinner of said Norton (book 45, pp. 16, 17).
1786, Oct 14. Timothy Skinner and Ezra Skinner of Mansfield sold
James Skinner, Jr., of same place a certain piece of land lying in
Mansfield, containing 7 acres be the same more or less Bounded on ye
North by Solomon Skinner, Jun's. Land, on ye East by Jonathan Hunts Land
on ye South by Solomon Bate's Land on ye West by ye Road or David
Grovers Land. Containing a Dwelling House and orchard. Witnesses:
Solomon Skinner, Jr.; Elisha Skinner (book 68, p. 33).
Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors, p. 282: Skinner, Timothy,
Norton. List of men mustered by James Leonard, Muster Master for
Briston Co., for 6 mos. service at Rhode Island, dated June 29, 1778; Col.
John Daggett's regt; also, Private, Capt. Joseph Cole's Co., Col. John
Jacob's regt.; enlisted June 24, 1778; service, 6 mos. 9 days, at Rhode
Island; enlistment to expire Jan. 1, 1779.
His grave has been marked by the S.A.R.
