Pitts family history, 1643-1985, Vol 1; The descendants of John Pitts, 1753-1834. page 226: [Theophilus] was the son of Samuel Skinner, who died after February 2, 1798, and a grandson of William Skinner. Samuel served in the Revolutionary War and proof of his service has been accepted by the Daughters of the American Revolution and his name is listed in the Patriots Index published in 1966.
