WHAT KIND OF

FAMILY RECORDS ARE NEEDED?

Everything historical; old letters, diaries, scrap books, rural school lists of students and teacher, family group photographs (where identified), in fact any picture taken in the 1800's. Original land patents, abstracts, wills, probate court proceedings, including the determination of heirs, all help to tell the story. Military records, awards, promotions, etc. Birth certificates, obituaries, wedding stories, anniversaries, feature stories about relatives, business promotions, Bible records before 1900, however, write before sending, giving the date of publication of the Bible, name of the original owner, and the date record begins and ends. I do not think the above list is complete, and if you have something that you think would be of interest to relatives, write describing what it is or send a Xerox copy.

In all cases, if the material is irreplaceable, be sure to insure or register the package. Where possible, we will photograph or copy the material and return the original. We will retain the original, only if requested by you. We will also send you a receipt listing the items received.

Before sending family lineages, please write asking what information we have. We will send you copies of our forms showing what we have and you can then fill in the blank spaces.

(Thanks to the Cornell Cousins for their suggestions)
