!.....E05.1126.18 Jones, Rev. W. Northey, M.A., Rector of St. Peter's Church, Perth Amboy. The History of St. Peter's Church in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. (p. 465) Educated, Trinity College, Dublin. He entered Hon. East India Company's service at an early age, arriving in Bombay, May 30, 1825. He served in the command of a detachment of the Poonah Auxiliary Horse with the field force in the Mahee Kanta and Edur districts in the winter of 1835-36, and also on the staff with the Bombay column in the Punjab campaign of 1848-49, including the siege of Mooltan, the battle of Goojerat, and the pursuit and surrender of the Sikh army, for which he received the medal with two clasps and a brevet majority. The dates of this commissions were: Ensign, Dec. 30, 1824; Lieutenant, Aug. 31, 1831; Captain, Nov.1, 1839; Bt. Major, June 7, 1849; Major May 18, 1852; Lieut. Colonel, Nov. 28, 1854; Colonel, Nov. 28 1857; Maj.-General, Nov. 13, 1866; Lieut.-General, Aug. 14, 1874; Judge Advocate General, Bombay, June, 1851; Created Companion of the Order of the Bath (C.B.) March 13, 1867. He retired from the army Oct. 1877.
