!.....Skinner, Glenn (4/98) g.skinner@@neccsd.com Dana, MA is an interesting story all by itself. In 1938 Dana and 4 other towns were dissolved by the state and flooded to form the Quabbin reservoir, thousands of bodies in 17 cemeteries were dug up and relocated, most to the Quabbin Park cemetery in Belchertown, MA, near the Winsor dam of the Quabbin. 5 generations of my line were relocated to that cemetery. My great grandfather Otis skinner was buried there in an unmarked grave next to his youngest son John. I spent long hours trying to locate Otis's parents, the records were incomplete from the move. Otis was an elusive person, he moved about every 4 years over three states during his life, I had only a year of birth and no date of death. I finally found the missing piece of the puzzle from a Skinner on the internet a few months ago, this missing piece led me directly to Thomas of Malden, I had researched all the other Skinners in the cemetery and had traced them back to Thomas, I just needed the missing piece to make the connection (sounds familiar I bet). Even in death Otis was elusive, when they went to dig up his body and move it he was not buried where cemetery records indicated. I have copies of correspondence indicating the engineers looked for many months for his body finally identifying him as a body they had already removed and reburied in an unmarked grave, they had to dig him up a second time and relocate him to his final resting place. Three other bodies are still unaccounted for, I believe I have found one, and am putting together the documentation to present to the cemetery. Otis's wife Hannah Nurse is a direct descendent of Rebecca Nurse one of the people hung as a witch in Salem Ma. other than Benjamin Skinner who served in the Revolutionary war, I haven't found too much exciting yet, although there is a family treasure hidden in Ma. somewhere and I have been given the bible that references 5 parables within the bible that when found and put together will lead you to the treasure. Family members have been looking for it for years, but no one can figure the starting point, I haven't had time to look into it, sounds like a rainy day project. I took pictures of the entrance and all the grave stones. The stones are very ornate, but have sunken deep into the ground so not all the writing is visible. The cemetery has been vandalized quite a bit, and Thamas's stone could have long ago been destroyed. I am still searching for Thomas and if I find him I will let you know.
