!Family information. Gregg the second of Walter's children, was born 14 May 1951. Gregg led a typical childhood growing up with his family in the upstairs flat of his grandparent's building at 1732 N Wood St. At the age of 13, after the death of his grandparents, Gregg and his family moved to their new home on the far northwest side of Chicago, where he grew into manhood. After moving out on his own in 1970, Gregg attended college while working full time. By 1974, the winters finally got to him and Gregg decided to move to Southern Califonia. After a short time living in Hollywood, Gregg moved out to the San Fernando Valley. A UCLA program prompted his move to the Pomona Valley, about 40 miles east of Los Angeles. Gregg attended Annunciation Elementary School until the middle of the seventh grade. Having moved, he finished his grammar school education at St Juliana's on the far northwest side of Chicago. Gregg graduated from Gordon technical High Schook in Chicago in 1969, after which he attended Northeeasetr Illinois Univerity in Chicago. Following his move to southern California in 1974, Gregg completed his BA in Psychology at UCLA (1978) by participating in the Developmental Disabilities / Special Education Immersion Program through UCLA's Department of Experiential Studies. This honors program introduces students to the fields of developmental disabilities by having them work at an institiution for the mentally retarded. Students are also introduced to special education by working in special education classes in local school districts. The year following involvement with this program as a student, Gregg was employed as research coordinator for the program. Gregg's first book, Pacific State Archives IV, co-edited with Dr. Arvan FLuharty, was a result of this position. Gregg continued his education at California State University at Los Angeles, by obtaining Multiple Subjects and Special Education teaching credentials. Gregg completed his Master's Degree in Education at California State University at San Bernardino in 1993. The degree included a certificate in Transitition Services in Special Education. Gregg's lists of jobs started out in high school as a gardener, and progressed to taxi cab dispatcher for Niles Cab. After beginning college, Gregg began working for the Post Office at the O'Hare Air Mail Facility in 1970. In 1974, Gregg transferred to the Van Nuys, CA, Post Office Secional Center Facility. While working in Van Nuys, Gregg was an acting supervisor and assisted in the instruction of new postal employees. Gregg attended school consistently while working, but in September of 1977 quit work to complete his studies at UCLA. After receiving his BA degree, Gregg worked for UCLA's Mental Retardation Research Center at Lanterman State Hospital in Pomona, CA, as a research assistant. During his time there, Gregg was involved with the writing of many academic papers which have been published in various professional publications dealing with mental retardation and special education. After three years with UCLA, Gregg moved into the field of special education. For many years he was an elementary and junior high school Special Day Class Teacher working with Learning Handicapped children. In 1987 Gregg moved to Salt Lake City in an attempt to make a career change. Not working out as planned, Gregg returned to his home in Ontario, CA where he resided as of 1994. He currently works as an elementary special education teacher in Rancho Cucamonga and has been very involved in the development of computer assisted education. While working as an elementary teacher, Gregg realized his fondness for kids. Gregg became a big brother to a very special boy, Mark. Soon, Gregg began thinking about having his own children to share his life. In January of 1982, Gregg filed papers to become an adoptive sinlge parent. In June of 1983, Jeffrey Scott, a nine year old, moved in and, on 24 July 1985 legally became a Legutki. In September of 1984, 12 year old Matthew moved in to become Gregg's second son. Gregg is an avid genealogist and family historian. He is the compiler of this book on the LEGUTKI family and edits a newsletter for his mother's family name, SKINNER. As genealgoy is a hobby that continually uncovers new and interesting information, Gregg can now boast that, through his mother's ancestral relationships, he is a ninth cousin, once removed, to Lady Diana Frances Spencer, Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales, estranged wife of His Royal Highness, Prince Charles. Through other lines on his mother's side, Gregg also descents from the original Piast kings of Poland, as well as many other Royal lineages of Europe.
