! E94.0809.07o Logan, Donna (4/91) family history 12109-A Old Frederick Rd, Thurmont, MD 21788: m In Perry co, OH, Exekiel owned the ?NE 1/4 NW 1/4 & NW 1/4 NE 1/4 Sec 6, T14 R15 Saltlick twp. March 5, 1838, he sold this farm to Cornelius Lanning. When Wapello co was opened by the govt for settlement May 1, 1843, Ezekiel Rush is credited with being one of the 2,000 settlers who waited at the line for midnight and the signal to go in and stake out a claim. He settled in Green twp. They had no children of their own. In the census of 1850 they had living with them a girl, Elizabeth Haughran aged thirteen years. They did not formally adopt her but in the census of 1856 she is listed as Elizabeth Rush and later she married Lewis Wilkenson. Mrs. Rush's sister, Lydia Rush, and her mother Lydia Truex Rush, are listed as living with the family in 1850 and the mother is listed in 1856. Ezekiel Rush adopted a boy, Roland Phillips (b 10/25/1858). He inherited the farm. In 1870 Samuel Clayton aged 84 years, who married Phebe Rush, was living with Exekiel Rush. Shortly after this date Roland Phillips and a playmate came into the house one evening and found Samuel Clayton on the floor dead beside a log which he had apparently attempted to carry in for the fire. In 1935 Roland Phillips was living with his dau, who was the wife of a Methodist preacher, Rev. E.R. Inman/Inram, at Bertha?, MN. Ezekiel was a justice of the peace.
