Amanda Jane Grantham on 5 Feb 1862, in Ashley Co., Ark. He was a soldier in the Civil War and fought in the Battle of Shiloh. He belonged to the Masonic Order in or near Portland, Ark. He was a farmer whose land was near Overflow Hill. This is near the Rogers Cem. where many of the Rogers and Granthams are buried. The cemetery is in good repair and our family appreciates the dedication and energy given by Miss Jayne Rogers of Portland, Ark. to preserve the grave sites of our ancestors. Miss Jayne also holds the original deed to the cemetery and is responsible for its upkeep. In recent years some members of the Rogers family have donated funds; however, it is an on-going expense that needs our attention. William Henry Rogers was a frequent visitor in our home. He usually came from Arkansas to McKinney, Texas to stay a month or so each year with his son, Andrew Cleveland Rogers. Grandfather, as I remember him, at the age of five, was a loving and kind person. He was well liked both in our immediate family and in the community. He had lots of company, as the veterans of the Civil War in McKinney often gathered around the courthouse benches to exchange stories of the fighting and suffering they experienced. Parents are Francis Rogers and Nancy Beasley
